Triennale di Milano 2019
Triennale di Milano 2019 is a contemporary art festival held once every three years.
Beginning in 1923, it is a historic art festival that reached its 22nd edition in 2019.

The venue is Triennale Milano itself, also known as the “Triennale Design Museum” — a facility that reportedly exhibits Triennale-related contemporary art even outside the art festival’s run.
The venue is located inside Parco Sempione. The surroundings are pleasant, with plenty of greenery.
Broken Nature — Design Takes on Human Survival
The subtitle of Triennale di Milano 2019, which we visited this time, was “Broken Nature,” carrying the accompanying phrase “Design Takes on Human Survival.”

A projection-mapping work
A mirrored room — works using mirrors were extremely common.
True to the theme, many works questioned the coexistence of humans and nature, but the modes of expression were diverse.
There were also many Japanese artists exhibiting, and they seemed to make a notable presence among the younger generation of artists.
Participating artists came from around the world, and the festival felt open — each nation’s perspective could be sensed.
The country-by-country layout also made the exhibition easy to navigate.
That said, despite being called a Triennale, it is held within a single museum, and the scale is such that all works can be seen in a few hours to half a day. If you go expecting a massive event, you may be disappointed. It might be a good plan to spend the day leisurely — enjoying the museum shop, the in-house restaurant, and the surrounding park — as a way to wash off urban stress.

회장은 그 이름 그대로 “Triennale Milano”이며, 별칭 “Triennale Design Museum”이 말해주듯 예술제 기간 외에도 Triennale 관련 현대 아트를 전시하는 시설이라고 합니다.
회장은 Parco Sempione(셈피오네 공원) 안에 자리 잡고 있습니다. 녹지가 많아 쾌적한 주변 환경입니다.

이번에 다녀온 Triennale di Milano 2019의 서브타이틀은 “Broken Nature”였으며, “Design Takes on Human Survival”(디자인이 인류의 생존을 짊어진다)이라는 부제가 붙어 있었습니다.
관내는 천장이 높고 개방감 있는 공간입니다크게 2개 층에 걸쳐 전개되어 있습니다. “예술제”라고 부르기에는 규모가 작다는 인상이 듭니다.1층은 국가별로 구역이 나뉘어 전시되어 있었습니다.영상 작품이 많다는 인상.다 쓴 건전지로 만든 작품일본인 아티스트 AKI INOMATA의 작품Sputniko! ≪NANOHANA HEELS≫ 2012년 유채꽃 씨앗을 내장한 힐. 걸을 때마다 힐 끝에서 씨앗이 지면에 심어지고, 걸어간 자리에는 유채꽃이 피어난다.Sputniko! 본인이 출연한 완성 영상도 상영되고 있었습니다.Kosuke Araki ≪Anima≫ 2018–2019년 음식물 쓰레기 등 잔반으로 제작한 그릇 시리즈쌓아 올린 흙, 퇴창에 전시된 조각, 그리고 눈부신 배경의 녹음.Capsula Mundi ≪Burial Pods≫
프로젝션 매핑 작품
거울로 뒤덮인 방 — 거울을 활용한 작품이 매우 많이 눈에 띄었습니다.
주제 그대로, 인간과 자연의 공존을 묻는 작품이 많았지만, 그 표현 방식은 실로 다양했습니다.
일본 작가의 출품도 많아, 젊은 세대 작가들 가운데서 뚜렷한 존재감을 드러낸 듯 느껴졌습니다.
출품 작가는 세계 각지에서 참여하고 있어, 각국의 시선을 느낄 수 있는 열린 예술제입니다.
국가별로 구역을 나눈 전시 방식 또한 이해하기 쉬웠습니다.
다만, 트리엔날레라고는 하지만 미술관 단독으로 개최되는 형태이며, 몇 시간에서 반나절 정도면 전 작품을 둘러볼 수 있는 규모입니다. 어마어마한 규모를 기대하고 간다면 다소 김이 샐 수도 있습니다. 뮤지엄 숍, 관내 레스토랑, 주변 공원 등에서 여유롭게 시간을 보내며 도시의 스트레스를 씻어내는 하루로 계획하는 것도 좋을 것 같습니다.
