We visited “Musée de l’Orangerie Collection: Renoir and the 12 Painters Who Fell in Love with Paris,” an exhibition of works from the Musée de l’Orangerie held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Yokohama Museum of Art.

The Musée de l’Orangerie is a French national museum that houses and exhibits French art from the late 19th to early 20th century.
This exhibition offers a valuable opportunity to see approximately 70 works by 13 painters from the museum’s 146-painting collection, brought together in Japan for the first time in 21 years.
Paul Guillaume
The remarkable holdings of the Musée de l’Orangerie were donated to the French State after the death of Paul Guillaume (1891–1934) by his wife Domenica, as the “Jean Walter and Paul Guillaume Collection,” named after her second husband, and have since been displayed at the museum.
Paul Guillaume was both a French art dealer and a collector.
He amassed a personal collection regardless of whether the artist was famous or unknown, and served as a patron who discovered and nurtured young artists such as Modigliani.

At the press preview, Cécile Debray, director of the Musée de l’Orangerie, made an elegant and lovely impression.
It was recently announced that Mami Kataoka will become the director of the Mori Art Museum in Japan. In Japan, more than 80% of museum directors are said to be men — I would like to see more female directors emerge.

Paul Guillaume, the art dealer and collector involved with so many historically important works.
The exhibition’s structure, which allowed viewers to feel his presence while viewing the works, left a strong impression.
The exhibition catalog was also organized around Paul Guillaume, making for engaging reading.

Musée de l’Orangerie所引以为傲的众多馆藏，是在Paul Guillaume（1891-1934年）逝世后，由其妻Domenica以其第二任丈夫的名字命名的”Jean Walter & Paul Guillaume Collection”名义捐赠给法国国家，此后陈列于该馆。

본 전시는 이 미술관이 소장한 146점의 회화 중 13명의 화가에 의한 약 70점이 21년 만에 한자리에 모여 일본에 오는 귀중한 기회다.

Musée de l’Orangerie가 자랑하는 수많은 소장품은, Paul Guillaume(1891-1934년) 사후 그의 부인 Domenica에 의해 두 번째 남편의 이름을 딴 “Jean Walter & Paul Guillaume Collection”으로 프랑스 국가에 양도된 후, 이 미술관에서 전시되게 되었다.
Paul Guillaume는 프랑스의 화상인 동시에 컬렉터이기도 했다.

본 전시의 프레스 프리뷰에 참석했는데, Musée de l’Orangerie 관장 Cécile Debray 씨는 우아하고 멋진 인상이었다.
얼마 전 일본에서도 Mori Art Museum 관장에 Mami Kataoka 씨의 취임이 발표되었다. 일본에서는 미술관의 80% 이상이 남성 관장이라고 하는데, 좀 더 많은 여성 관장이 나와도 좋을 것 같다.
