I visited the 70th Tokyo University of the Arts Graduation/Completion Works Exhibition.
This time, from among the students with high grade evaluations, I introduce Yurara Mori’s display.
A display using rooms 709 and 710 of the Tokyo University of the Arts painting building.

Yurara Mori “KILLER CIRCUS” — from the 68th Tokyo Geidai graduation exhibition
This work, presented as her completion project, created a space imagined as a “grindhouse.”
A grindhouse is the name for the many cinemas that once existed across the United States. Not first-run theaters, but the nickname for run-down, out-of-the-way cinemas that cheaply screened B-movies—shown over and over here and there—as double or triple features.

Entering room 709, the display space, rock sound flowing from an analog record player echoed through.

The exhibited work was created not by Mori alone but with the help of acquaintances, she said.
Installation viewThe neon tubes were made by the artist 「WAKU」.The “murder music” carved into Jason’s mask means “killer tune.”
The painting displayed on the wall is a large canvas work. The motif depicted was a figure standing in an American cabaret.

제70회를 맞은 도쿄예술대학 졸업・수료 작품전에 다녀왔습니다.
이번에는 성적 평가가 높았던 학생 중에서 모리 유라라의 전시를 소개합니다.
도쿄예술대학 회화동 709・710 교실을 사용한 전시가 되었습니다.

모리 유라라 「KILLER CIRCUS」〜제68회 도쿄 게이다이 졸업전에서
수료 제작 발표가 된 이번 작품은 「그라인드하우스」를 이미지한 공간을 만들어 냈습니다.
그라인드하우스란 미국 내에 다수 있던 영화관의 호칭. 영화관이라 해도 개봉관이 아니라, 여기저기서 여러 번 돌려진 B급 영화를 두 편 동시상영, 세 편 동시상영으로 저렴하게 상영하던 변두리 영화관의 통칭입니다.
타이틀 《세계 평화 프로젝트》
전시 장소인 709 교실에 들어서면 아날로그 레코드 플레이어에서 흘러나오는 록 사운드가 울려 퍼지고 있었습니다.

전시 작품은 모리 혼자가 아니라 지인의 힘을 빌리며 만들어 갔다는 이야기였습니다.
전시 풍경네온관은 아티스트 「WAKU」에 의해 제작되었습니다.제이슨 가면에 새겨진 「살인 음악」은 killer tune의 의미.
벽면에 전시된 회화는 큰 캔버스 작품. 모티프는 미국의 카바레에 서 있는 인물이 그려져 있었습니다.

실제로 이런 공간에서 술을 마시며 왁자지껄 떠들썩하게 지낼 수 있다면 즐거울 것 같다고 느꼈습니다.
미술의 틀을 넘어선, 스케일 큰 수료 작품이었습니다.
