プラダ財団美術館（Fondazione Prada）

PRADA美術館に行ってきました。
場所はイタリア、ミラノ。メトロM3線「Lodi T.i.b.b.」駅から徒歩で約10分ちょっとの場所です。とにかく広いエリアです。

チケットは大人1枚15ユーロ。2枚あるうちの1枚は「HAUNTED HOUSE」の時間指定入場券です。

地下のクローク横にある男子トイレ。あれ？便器ないぞ？と一瞬混乱します※左側緑の壁が洋式個室トイレです

リジー・フィッチとライアン・トレッカーティンの展示「WHETHER LINE」からスタートです

2018年に完成したTorre（トーレ）館のエレベータは景色が素晴らしい反面高所恐怖症には少々怖いです。

天井からぶら下がるキノコの部。カールステン・ホーラー（Carsten Höller）の作品。

ダミアンハーストの大作は驚きです。

ミュージアムショップ（Biblioteca）

品揃えはそれほど多くない印象ですが、隣のBARとはまるで異空間なミュージアムショップです。

トム・サックスの特装版は「エディション150」の直筆サイン入りで1,300ユーロでした。

カフェ・バー

敷地内のミュージアムショップ隣に構えるカフェ・バー「Bar Luce」は、「グランド・ブタペスト・ホテル」などを手がけた映画監督ウェス・アンダーソン（Wes Anderson）がデザインしたそうです。
店内の雰囲気が映画を思い出させてくれます。

まとめ

施設内はとにかく大きくて、複数の建物を巡っていくコースになります。
PRADA美術館のコレクションは著名なアーティストの作品が並び、めちゃ稼いでいるなぁ･･･という感想が自然に出てきてしまいました。

広い敷地内を歩く体力も必要ですが、時間を多めにとって一日過ごすような余裕も持ちたいと思いました。
筆者は時間が足りず、「HAUNTED HOUSE」に立ち寄ることが出来ませんでした。

ミラノ中心街の美術館も良いですが、PRADA美術館のラグジュアリーな雰囲気は特別な体験になることでしょう。

I visited the PRADA museum.
It’s located in Milan, Italy. From the Metro M3 line “Lodi T.i.b.b.” station, it’s a little over 10 minutes on foot. It’s an incredibly vast area.

I walked from the subway station. This is a photo of the exterior.

Once inside, you’ll be amazed by the sheer size of the grounds.

Tickets are 15 euros per adult. One of the two tickets is a timed-entry pass for “HAUNTED HOUSE.”

A map of the entire venue was embedded in the floor. The orange section marks the ticket office.

The men’s restroom next to the underground cloakroom. “Wait — no urinal?” — you might be momentarily confused. *The green wall on the left is a Western-style private stall.

Starting with the “WHETHER LINE” exhibition by Lizzie Fitch and Ryan Trecartin

The day I visited, it was uncrowded and I could take my time.

The elevator of the Torre building, completed in 2018, offers a magnificent view — but it’s a bit scary for anyone afraid of heights.

The upper floors feature high ceilings and glass windows with sweeping views.

Damien Hirst’s monumental piece is astonishing.

The Cinema building has free admission. Multiple films were being screened.

Museum Shop (Biblioteca)

The selection isn’t especially extensive, but this museum shop feels like an entirely different world from the BAR next door.

Tom Sachs’s special edition, an “Edition 150” signed copy, was priced at 1,300 euros.

Look closely and you’ll see that the cover uses PRADA leather. The photo shows a display copy.

Cafe / Bar

The cafe-bar “Bar Luce,” next to the museum shop within the grounds, was designed by film director Wes Anderson — the mind behind works like “The Grand Budapest Hotel.”
The atmosphere inside evokes memories of the film.

In Closing

The facility is simply enormous, and the visit takes you on a route through multiple buildings.
The PRADA museum’s collection features works by renowned artists, which naturally led me to think, “wow, they must be making serious money…”

Walking the vast grounds takes some stamina, and I wished I’d allotted more time to spend the whole day here.
Short on time, I wasn’t able to stop by “HAUNTED HOUSE.”

Museums in central Milan are wonderful too, but the luxurious atmosphere of the PRADA museum makes for a truly special experience.
