I visited the first installment of “One work show,” a new project at Miura Jiro Gallery bis, featuring Daichi Igarashi. Running concurrently was Niko Hirano’s debut solo exhibition, but Miura Jiro Gallery bis is located one floor down, on the third floor.
Daichi Igarashi was an artist I had been paying attention to since he did a public painting session at the recent Geisai festival.
As of October 2018, he is a third-year student at Tokyo University of the Arts.

As the title suggests, “One work show” is a project in which only one artwork is exhibited.
The first installment features Daichi Igarashi’s major work, “portrait I.”
“In Western art, symmetry, beauty, and orderly geometric forms have been considered beautiful.
In contrast, the Japanese sense of beauty is rooted in the idea of ‘the beauty of insufficiency,’ which finds lingering resonance in the incomplete, the uneven, and the simple.
By deliberately breaking down the symmetrical and orderly techniques of Western art, I express the sensibilities of ‘wabi,’ ‘sabi,’ and ‘the beauty of insufficiency’—qualities that emerge anew through the expansion of the imagination, rather than viewing insufficiency as inadequacy.
For the first One work show at Miura Jiro Gallery bis, the ‘Daichi Igarashi Exhibition,’ I created the work with the aim of blurring the connections between the body parts of the portrait, stimulating the viewer’s imagination to evoke a sense of ‘yugen’ (mysterious depth) and ‘lingering resonance.'”

The gallery interior is covered in black curtains and completely dark. The only illumination is a single beam of light shining on the artwork.

The canvas appears mysteriously to float in the darkness.
The matiere, illuminated by the light, emitted a fantastical glow.
The exhibited works are limited in number, but I understood this as preparation for future solo exhibitions.
A promising talent whose future is exciting to watch—high expectations!

我参观了 Miura Jiro Gallery bis 的新企画「One work show」的第一回展览——Daichi Igarashi 的展出。同期举办的还有 Niko Hirano 的首次个展，不过 Miura Jiro Gallery bis 位于下一层的三楼。
Daichi Igarashi 是我在前段时间的艺祭上进行公开创作时就一直关注的艺术家。
现在（2018年10月），他是东京艺术大学（Tokyo University of the Arts）三年级学生。

正如标题所示，「One work show」是仅展出一件作品的企画。
第一回展出的是 Daichi Igarashi 的大作《portrait I》。
「在西方美术中，均衡、秀丽以及秩序井然的几何造型被视为美。
与之相对，日本人的审美意识背后有一种「不足之美」的观念，即从不完整、不均等、简朴的事物中感受到余韵。
我通过刻意打破西方美术中均衡有序的手法，不把不足视为不充分，而是通过扩展想象力，来表现新出现的「侘」「寂」「不足之美」的感觉。
在 Miura Jiro Gallery bis 第一回 one work show「Daichi Igarashi 展」的作品中，我通过模糊肖像身体各部位的连接，激发观者的想象力，以让观者感受到「幽玄」与「余韵」为目的进行创作。」

画廊内被黑色帷幕覆盖，一片漆黑。唯一的照明是照射在作品上的一束光。

画布在黑暗中如同神奇地浮现。
肌理（matiere）被灯光照射，散发出梦幻般的光芒。
展出的作品数量有限，但我理解这是为今后的个展所做的准备。
是一位前途值得期待的人才，令人期待！
One work show #1
Miura Jiro Gallery bis의 새 기획 「One work show」의 제1회 전시인 Daichi Igarashi 편에 다녀왔습니다. 동시에 개최되고 있던 것은 Niko Hirano의 첫 개인전이지만, Miura Jiro Gallery bis는 한 층 아래인 3층에 있습니다.
Daichi Igarashi는 얼마 전 예제(藝祭)에서도 공개 제작을 진행하고 있어 주목하던 작가였습니다.
현재(2018년 10월) Tokyo University of the Arts 3학년입니다.

「One work show」는 그 제목대로 단 한 작품에 한정하여 전시하는 기획입니다.
제1회는 Daichi Igarashi의 대작 《portrait I》입니다.
「서양 미술에서는 균정함이나 아름다움, 질서 있는 기하학적인 것이 아름답다고 여겨져 왔습니다.
이에 반해 일본인이 지닌 미의식의 배경에는 불완전함, 불균등함, 소박한 것에서 여운을 느끼는 「부족의 미」라는 사고가 있습니다.
저는 균정하고 질서 있는 서양 미술의 기법을 감히 무너뜨림으로써, 부족함을 불충분하다고 여기지 않고 상상력을 부풀림으로써 새롭게 보이는 「와비」「사비」「부족의 미」의 감각을 표현하고 있습니다.
Miura Jiro Gallery bis 제1회 one work show 「Daichi Igarashi 전」의 작품에서는 초상의 신체 부위 연결을 불명확하게 하여, 감상자의 상상력을 자극함으로써 「유현함」과 「여운」을 느끼시도록 하는 것을 목적으로 제작했습니다.」

갤러리 내부는 검은 커튼으로 뒤덮여 새까맣게 어둡습니다. 유일한 조명은 작품을 비추는 한 줄기의 빛입니다.

캔버스는 어둠 속에서 신비롭게 떠오르는 듯한 모습으로 보입니다.
마티에르가 빛에 비춰져 환상적인 빛을 발하고 있었습니다.
전시 작품은 한정되어 있지만, 앞으로의 개인전을 위한 준비 과정으로 이해했습니다.
장래가 기대되는 인재입니다. 기대!
