The video works that KYUN-CHOME presented at the Aichi Triennale 2019 were re-screened at Shinran Kōryūkan (Kyoto).
Shinran Kōryūkan
KYUN-CHOME is an art unit made up of two members, Eri Homma and Nabuchi.
Following their own instincts and desires, they base themselves in various locations in Japan and abroad for medium- to long-term stays, and by repeatedly engaging in actions, research, interviews, and video production, they cut into the most core realities of each place.

This exhibition screened two works — “Until Our Voices Give Out” and “I Am Seiji” — centered on interviews with “people who have rewritten their own names and genders.”
Until Our Voices Give Out
“Until Our Voices Give Out” is an interview work that features three people — FtoM, MtoF, and X-gender — each in 15-minute segments (45 minutes in total). It is composed mainly of interviews about the paths each of them has walked, and concludes with a performance in which they keep shouting their own names out loud.
FtoM (FTM): Short for Female to Male. A person who was born female but wishes to live as, and be treated as, male.
MtoF (MTF): Short for Male to Female. A person who was born male but wishes to live as, and be treated as, female!
X-gender: Refers to a person who feels discomfort with the sex they were born with, but does not draw a clear line between male and female for their internal gender.

I Am Seiji
“I Am Seiji” is a video that records an FTM character who has changed his name from Ayano to Seiji as he tells his mother about it, and expresses his past and present names in calligraphy.

Together with gender, the work questions the great weight of meaning that a name carries.
FtoM（FTM）：Female to Male 的缩写。生来为女性，但希望以男性身份生活、希望被以男性对待的人。
MtoF（MTF）：Male to Female 的缩写。生来为男性，但希望以女性身份生活、希望被以女性对待的人！
X 性别（X-gender）：指对与生俱来的性别感到不适，但在内心不将性别划分为男性或女性的人。

I Am Seiji
《I Am Seiji》是一件记录影像：一名将姓名由”彩乃”改为”世治”的 FTM 主人公，向母亲吐露此事，并以书法呈现过去与现在的名字。

KYUN-CHOME은 Eri Homma와 Nabuchi 두 사람으로 이루어진 아트 유닛입니다.
자신의 후각과 욕망을 따라 국내외 각지에 중·장기적으로 체류하며, 행위(액션), 리서치, 인터뷰, 영상 제작을 거듭하면서 그 지역의 가장 핵심적인 현실 속으로 파고드는 스타일로 활동하고 있습니다.

본 전시에서는 “스스로 이름과 성별을 다시 쓴 사람들”을 향한 인터뷰를 중심으로 한 두 작품, 〈Until Our Voices Give Out〉과 〈I Am Seiji〉가 상영되었습니다.
Until Our Voices Give Out
〈Until Our Voices Give Out〉은 FtoM, MtoF, X젠더 세 사람을 각각 15분씩(총 45분) 담아낸 인터뷰 작품입니다. 각자가 걸어온 길에 관한 인터뷰를 중심으로 구성되며, 자신의 이름을 큰 목소리로 계속 외치는 퍼포먼스로 매듭지어집니다.
FtoM(FTM): Female to Male의 약자. 태어날 때의 성별은 여성이지만, 남성으로 살고 싶고 남성으로 대접받고 싶다고 생각하는 사람.
MtoF(MTF): Male to Female의 약자. 태어날 때의 성별은 남성이지만, 여성으로 살고 싶고 여성으로 대접받고 싶다고 생각하는 사람!
X젠더: 타고난 성별에 위화감을 느끼면서도, 마음의 성별을 남성·여성으로 선을 긋지 않는 사람을 가리킵니다.

〈I Am Seiji〉는 아야노에서 세이지로 이름을 바꾼 FTM 등장인물이 어머니에게 그 사실을 알리고, 과거와 현재의 이름을 서예로 표현하는 모습을 기록한 영상입니다.
〈I Am Seiji〉 2019년 영상 15분어머니와 자식이 공동 작업으로 이름을 쓰는 퍼포먼스원래의 이름 위에 개명 후의 이름을 겹쳐 씁니다.
