ポーラ美術館で開催されている、シュルレアリスムと絵画 ―ダリ、エルンストと日本の「シュール」展にお伺いしました。

20世紀の芸術に最も大きな影響を及ぼした芸術運動のひとつ、フランスの詩人アンドレ・ブルトンが中心となって推し進めた芸術運動「シュルレアリスム」。
「シュルレアリスム」に焦点を当てた本展は、タイトルの通り「絵画」に視点を絞り、シュルレアリスム運動の当時から、“シュール”と呼ばれる日本独自の表現へと展開していった流れを、現代美術作家の作品を含めて紹介する企画展です。

入場口付近には、マックス･エルンストの作品をオマージュした眼のオブジェが設置されています。

マックス・エルンストは多数、サルバドール・ダリは約10点、他にルネ･マグリット、ジョアン・ミロ、パブロ･ピカソなど、豪華なアーティストの作品の展示がありました（画像掲載不可により記事内でご紹介できませんでした）。

「シュルレアリスム」は、理性が信じられた近代の考え方を否定し、より強い現実性を目指す運動でしたが、日本では「超現実主義」の「超」に重点が置かれ、現実を超えた夢のような世界、現実離れした意味合いとして広がっていきました。

日本人作家の作品も多数展示されていました。

特別展示

現代日本におけるシュールレアリスムを参照する美術作家として、束芋さんの特別展示が企画されました。

本展は、シュルレアリスム運動からどのようにシュルレアリスム絵画が生まれたのか、さらに日本における超現実主義への展開に焦点をあてる世界で初めての展覧会です。

Surrealist Painting

We visited “Surrealist Painting — Dalí, Ernst and Japan’s ‘Surréal’,” held at the Pola Museum of Art.

Surrealism — one of the art movements that most profoundly shaped 20th-century art — was driven forward by the French poet André Breton.
Focusing on Surrealism, this exhibition zooms in on painting, as its title suggests, tracing the movement from its origins to the emergence of Japan’s own uniquely developed “surréal” expression, and includes works by contemporary artists.

Near the entrance, an eye-shaped object is installed as a homage to works by Max Ernst.

The exhibition included a large number of works by Max Ernst, around ten by Salvador Dalí, and pieces by other major artists such as René Magritte, Joan Miró, and Pablo Picasso (image reproduction was not permitted, so we were unable to introduce them within this article).

Surrealism was a movement that rejected the modern belief in reason and pursued a stronger, more insistent form of reality. In Japan, however, the emphasis fell on the “super” of “super-realism” (choougenjitsu shugi), and the term spread with a slightly different nuance: a dreamlike world beyond reality, something detached from the everyday.

Special exhibit

As a contemporary Japanese artist referencing Surrealism, Tabaimo was invited for a special exhibition.

This is the world’s first exhibition to focus on how Surrealist painting emerged out of the Surrealist movement and, from there, how it developed into Japan’s own super-realism.

超现实主义与绘画

我们前往参观了在波拉美术馆（Pola Museum of Art）举办的”超现实主义与绘画 ─达利、恩斯特与日本’超现实’展”。

作为20世纪对艺术影响最为深远的艺术运动之一，”超现实主义”由法国诗人安德烈·布勒东（André Breton）为核心推动展开。
本次展览聚焦于”超现实主义”，如标题所示，将视角收束于”绘画”，介绍从超现实主义运动的当时，到发展为日本独有表现方式的”超现实”的整条脉络，并纳入了当代艺术家的作品。

Max Ernst的作品数量众多，Salvador Dalí约有10件展出，此外还有René Magritte、Joan Miró、Pablo Picasso等众多重量级艺术家的作品同场亮相（因不可刊登图片，无法在本文中一一介绍）。

“超现实主义”是一场否定信奉理性的近代思维方式、追求更为强烈现实性的艺术运动，但在日本，”超现实主义”中的”超”字被格外强调，被广为接受为超越现实的、梦幻般的世界，一种远离现实的意涵。

特别展示

作为当代日本参照超现实主义的美术作家，Tabaimo受邀参展并设有特别展厅。

本次展览是全球首次聚焦于”超现实主义绘画如何从超现实主义运动中诞生，进而在日本发展成超现实主义”这一脉络的展览。

초현실주의와 회화

Pola Museum of Art에서 열리고 있는 “초현실주의와 회화 ─달리, 에른스트와 일본의 ‘슈르’ 전”을 방문했습니다.

20세기 예술에 가장 큰 영향을 끼친 예술 운동 가운데 하나이자, 프랑스 시인 앙드레 브르통(André Breton)이 중심이 되어 추진한 예술 운동 “초현실주의”.
“초현실주의”에 초점을 맞춘 이번 전시는, 제목 그대로 “회화”에 시점을 좁혀 초현실주의 운동 당시부터, “슈르”라 불리는 일본 특유의 표현으로 전개되어 간 흐름을 현대미술 작가의 작품까지 아울러 소개하는 기획전입니다.

입장 게이트 부근에는 Max Ernst의 작품에 오마주를 바친 눈 오브제가 설치되어 있습니다.
