The YouTube channel Bur@rt TV」 is Bur@rt (Buratto Art)」’s new project—a series interviewing noteworthy artists.
On a certain day in 2020, we spoke with Yuichi Hirako, who had a solo exhibition “GIFT” coming up, about matters relating to his practice. We visited Hirako’s atelier in Tokyo.

What we talked about this time covered his production, the art materials he uses such as paints and brushes, and the motifs that appear in his works—while also getting close to the character of Hirako, who is active globally, and touching on how to appreciate art.

Solo Exhibition “GIFT”
Yuichi Hirako’s solo exhibition “GIFT” is held at KOTARO NUKAGA (Tennoz) from January 23 to February 27, 2021.

Toward this exhibition, Hirako and the gallery held repeated discussions about the concept and content, and about 40 works of various kinds are shown—from three-dimensional works over 2.5 m tall and canvas works reaching 6 m, to small works you’d want to display in your study.
Yuichi Hirako drew an illustration and signature on a used acrylic-paint package he uses—which also appears in the interview video.
