I visited Gallery kingyo. This gallery is a lovely, comfortable place. A group show called “Midsummer Printmaking Exhibition” was on view — a joint exhibition of printmakers gathered at the invitation of the organizer.
I found out about it from a Twitter follower, but the trigger was actually a tweet of mine. They kindly replied that Mie Irokawa — whose work had left a strong impression on me at the graduation exhibition — was participating.
All three works had red dot stickers (sold). Since they are prints, being “sold” doesn’t mean sold out.
Now, an overdue reunion with “Cactus Bath.” It may be hard to see, but part of the cactus has a bathtub attached, and a cat is soaking in it looking blissful. The colors, too, are deeply layered and multi-hued, with an exquisite tonal balance.
“Reincarnation” was a magnificent work. A truly energetic piece that made you feel “life” itself.

This time the second floor was also opened up, and many works were on view. I got to spend a leisurely stretch of time surrounded by prints.
I was able to view prints at a relaxed pace in a calm, understated gallery. Nezu is dotted with other distinctive galleries, too — a wonderful neighborhood.
今回は2階のフロアも解放されて多くの作品が展示されていました。沢山の版画に囲まれてゆっくりと時間を過ごす事が出来ました。
