I visited Taishi Hatayama’s solo exhibition “Primordial Perception.”
The venue is EUKARYOTE, a gallery in Gaienmae.
Taishi Hatayama, “Water’s Guidance”
Taishi Hatayama launched his career as an artist in 2014, when he was simultaneously awarded the Excellence Prize and the Kohei Nawa Prize at the 1st CAF Award.
The white-based painting series that received the award grew out of his experiences confronting trees.
At first glance, the surface appears simply white, but the layered brushstrokes of paint seem to generate a sense of depth.

The series inspired by weather charts stands out for its vivid, richly colored pigments.
