週末は京都に行ってまして、京都造形芸術大学や京都市立芸術大学などに行ってました。京都造形大学の卒展・修了展は相変わらず面白いですね。昨年は会期後半に伺ったのですが、今回は会期前日のアルトテックツアーに参加しまして、椿先生の解説付ツアーという楽しい企画に参加させて頂きました。椿先生の説明が本当にお上手で、乗せられたように数点作品購入してきました。京都でお話ししたりお付き合い頂いた方、ありがとうございました。
しかし、京都は比較的伺う機会が多い街ですが、とても人が少なかったですね。新型コロナウィルスの影響でしょうか。京都経済に大きな影響が及んでいるように感じました。心配ですね。
次回は「ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2020」に伺います。楽しみな企画が沢山あるので楽しみです。
現代アートの難しさを考える
先日、太田市美術館・図書館で開催されたグループ展「2020年のさざえ堂——現代の螺旋と100枚の絵」に伺いました。
オープニングパーティで挨拶された太田市長が、展示作品を冗談交じりに「よく分からない」とコメントしていました。抽象が作家である高橋大輔さんの作品数が100もあったので、アートに縁の無い方の正直な感想だと思います。
また、前述した京都造形大学の鑑賞ツアーは、某一般団体のご一行様も参加されていましたが、こちらもアートの分からないご年配の方々でした。帯同しながら一緒に見ていたのですが、耳に入ってくるコメントは「よう分からへんなぁ」というものでした。
図工や美術の授業はあったのに、美術鑑賞の教育がなされていない日本ですから、こういった話は当たり前のことなのかも知れません。
仲間のコレクターが、先日の平子雄一展（WAITINGROOM）に続いて、石井亨さんの個展「コラージュ・アンド・ステイニング」（会場：コートヤード広尾）で第2弾の音声ガイド企画を実現しました。「キイテミル」という企画名です。この企画がもっと普及して、現代アートへの理解が深まれば良いですね。
おわりに
アートバーゼル香港の中止は残念でした。個展形式で開催を予定していた作家さんはとても残念でしょう。武田鉄平さんの作品観たかったです。
今週は井田幸昌さんの個展が開催されますね。頑張っていきましょう！

Last weekend I was in Kyoto, visiting Kyoto University of Art and Design and Kyoto City University of Arts, among others. The graduation and completion exhibitions at Kyoto University of Art and Design are as interesting as ever. Last year I went during the latter half of the run, but this time I joined the Artotheque tour on the day before the exhibition opened — a delightful program with commentary by Professor Tsubaki. His explanations were so skillful that I ended up buying several works, as if drawn along by his enthusiasm. Many thanks to everyone I spoke with and spent time with in Kyoto.
That said, although Kyoto is a city I visit relatively often, there were very few people around. I suspect the effect of the novel coronavirus. It felt as though the Kyoto economy was being significantly impacted. It is worrying.
Next I will be attending “ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2020.” There are so many exciting programs that I am looking forward to it.
Thinking about the difficulty of contemporary art
The other day I visited the group exhibition “The Sazae-do of 2020 — Contemporary Spirals and 100 Paintings” held at the Ota City Museum of Art and Library.
At the opening reception, the Ota City mayor gave a greeting in which he joked that he “didn’t really understand” the works on display. Given that abstract artist Daisuke Takahashi had as many as 100 works on show, that was probably the honest impression of someone unfamiliar with art.
Also, on the Kyoto University of Art and Design tour I mentioned earlier, a group from a certain public organization was also participating, and they too were elderly people unfamiliar with art. Walking along and viewing the works with them, the comments that reached my ears were things like, “I really don’t get it.”
Since Japan has arts-and-crafts and fine-arts classes but no education in art appreciation, this kind of reaction may be only natural.
Following on from the recent Yuichi Hirako show (WAITINGROOM), a fellow collector realized a second audio-guide project for Toru Ishii’s solo exhibition “Collage and Staining” (venue: Courtyard HIROO). The project is called “Kiitemiru.” I hope this initiative spreads further and deepens understanding of contemporary art.
In closing
The cancellation of Art Basel Hong Kong was unfortunate. It must be especially disappointing for the artists who had planned solo-booth presentations. I would have liked to see Teppei Takeda’s work.
This week Yukimasa Ida’s solo show opens. Let’s keep at it!

上周末我去了京都，走访了京都造形艺术大学（Kyoto University of Art and Design）与京都市立艺术大学（Kyoto City University of Arts）等地。京都造形艺术大学的毕业展与结业展一如既往地精彩。去年是在会期后半段前往，此次则参加了会期前一日的Artotheque tour——一场由椿老师亲自解说的愉快活动。椿老师的讲解真是精妙至极，我像被他带动一般，购入了几件作品。感谢在京都与我交谈、款待我的各位。
不过，京都虽然是我造访较多的城市，但此次人潮明显稀少。想必是新型冠状病毒的影响吧。感觉京都经济正遭受不小的冲击，令人担忧。
下次我将前往”ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2020″。有许多令人期待的企划，非常期待。
思考当代艺术的难度
前几天，我参观了在Ota City Museum of Art and Library举办的联展”2020年的Sazae-do——当代的螺旋与100幅画”。
在开幕式上致辞的太田市长半开玩笑地评论展出作品”看不太懂”。抽象画家Daisuke Takahashi参展的作品多达100幅，这大概是对艺术不甚熟悉者的真实感受吧。
另外，前面提到的京都造形艺术大学鉴赏之旅，也有某公众团体的一行人参加，同样是对艺术不太了解的年长者们。随行观看时，耳边传来的评论都是”真的看不懂啊”这样的话。
日本虽然有图工与美术课，却缺乏艺术鉴赏的教育，因此这类反应或许是理所当然的。
我的一位收藏家朋友继前几日的Yuichi Hirako展（WAITINGROOM）之后，又为Toru Ishii的个展”Collage and Staining”（会场：Courtyard HIROO）实现了第二弹语音导览企划，名为”Kiitemiru”。希望这类企划能进一步普及，加深大众对当代艺术的理解。
结语
Art Basel Hong Kong的取消令人遗憾。原本计划以个展形式参展的作家们一定非常失望。我本想亲眼看看Teppei Takeda的作品。

지난 주말에는 교토에 다녀왔습니다. Kyoto University of Art and Design과 Kyoto City University of Arts 등을 방문했습니다. Kyoto University of Art and Design의 졸업전·수료전은 여전히 흥미롭습니다. 작년에는 회기 후반에 방문했지만, 이번에는 회기 전날 열린 Artotheque tour에 참가하여 츠바키 선생님의 해설이 곁들여진 즐거운 프로그램을 경험할 수 있었습니다. 츠바키 선생님의 설명이 워낙 훌륭해서, 그 분위기에 이끌리듯 몇 점의 작품을 구입해 왔습니다. 교토에서 이야기를 나누고 함께해 주신 여러분께 감사드립니다.
다만, 교토는 비교적 자주 찾는 도시이지만 이번엔 사람이 매우 적었습니다. 신종 코로나바이러스의 영향 때문일까요. 교토 경제에 큰 영향이 미치고 있는 듯 느껴졌습니다. 걱정스럽습니다.
다음에는 “ARTISTS’ FAIR KYOTO 2020″에 방문할 예정입니다. 기대되는 프로그램이 많아서 즐거움이 큽니다.
현대미술의 어려움을 생각하다
얼마 전, Ota City Museum of Art and Library에서 열린 그룹전 “The Sazae-do of 2020 — Contemporary Spirals and 100 Paintings”를 방문했습니다.
오프닝 파티에서 인사말을 전한 오타 시장이 전시 작품에 대해 농담 섞인 말로 “잘 모르겠다”고 코멘트했습니다. 추상 작가인 Daisuke Takahashi의 작품 수가 무려 100점에 달했으니, 미술에 익숙지 않은 분에게는 솔직한 감상이었을 것입니다.
또한 앞서 언급한 Kyoto University of Art and Design 감상 투어에도 어떤 일반 단체의 일행이 참가했는데, 이분들 역시 미술에 익숙지 않은 연장자분들이었습니다. 함께 다니며 작품을 보는 동안 귀에 들려온 코멘트는 “잘 모르겠네요”라는 것이었습니다.
일본은 도공(圖工)이나 미술 수업은 있어도 미술 감상 교육이 이루어지지 않는 나라이니, 이런 이야기는 어쩌면 당연한 것일지도 모릅니다.
한 컬렉터 지인이 지난 Yuichi Hirako 개인전(WAITINGROOM)에 이어, Toru Ishii의 개인전 “Collage and Staining”(장소: Courtyard HIROO)에서 제2탄 오디오 가이드 기획을 실현했습니다. “Kiitemiru”라는 기획명입니다. 이런 기획이 더 널리 보급되어 현대미술에 대한 이해가 깊어지길 바랍니다.
마치며
Art Basel Hong Kong의 취소는 안타까웠습니다. 개인전 형식으로 참가를 예정했던 작가분들은 매우 아쉬웠을 것입니다. Teppei Takeda의 작품을 직접 보고 싶었습니다.
