トム・サックス「ティーセレモニー」

トム・サックスが日本で初めて開催する美術館での大規模個展「ティーセレモニー」にお伺いしました。会場は東京オペラシティ アートギャラリーです。

タイトル「ティーセレモニー」は茶の湯の意。ニューヨーク生まれのトムサックスが外国人の視点で茶の湯を解釈し、日常で使われる既製品を素材として表現する展覧会です。
2012年から本格的に茶道を学んだトム・サックス、茶の湯の世界を独自の視点や解釈で再構築した作品を制作してきました。

メインの展示スペースは、日本庭園をイメージした空間構成になっています。
露地門側の外露地と茶室側の内露地に分かれておりました。

 

茶道に対する愛を感じつつも遊び心とジョークに鑑賞者も引き込まれてしまいます。
軽妙で重たくなくてサラッとした鑑賞体験が心地良く感じました。

Tom Sachs “Tea Ceremony”

I visited “Tea Ceremony,” Tom Sachs’s first large-scale solo museum exhibition in Japan. The venue is Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery.

The title “Tea Ceremony” refers to the way of tea. This is an exhibition in which Tom Sachs, born in New York, interprets the tea ceremony from a foreigner’s perspective, using everyday ready-made items as his medium.
Since beginning his serious study of tea in 2012, Tom Sachs has produced works that reconstruct the world of the tea ceremony through his own singular viewpoint and interpretation.

The main exhibition space is composed around the image of a Japanese garden.
It is divided into an outer roji (garden path) on the roji-mon (garden gate) side and an inner roji on the tea-house side.

 

Even as you feel his love for the tea ceremony, his playfulness and humor pull the viewer in.
The light, unburdened, effortless viewing experience felt very pleasant.

Tom Sachs「Tea Ceremony」

造访了Tom Sachs在日本首次举办的大型美术馆个展「Tea Ceremony」。会场位于Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery。

标题「Tea Ceremony」即为茶之汤（茶道）之意。这是一场由生于纽约的Tom Sachs以外国人的视角解读茶道，并以日常生活中使用的现成品作为素材加以表现的展览。
自2012年开始正式研习茶道以来，Tom Sachs不断以独特的视角与解读重构茶之汤的世界，创作出一系列作品。

主展区的空间构成以日本庭园为意象。
以露地门为界，分为外露地与茶室一侧的内露地。

 

在感受到他对茶道的爱意之余，作品中的玩心与幽默也让观众深深入戏。
轻盈而不厚重、清爽的观展体验令人愉悦。

Tom Sachs가 일본에서 처음으로 여는 미술관 대규모 개인전 “Tea Ceremony”를 찾았습니다. 회장은 Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery입니다.

제목 “Tea Ceremony”는 다도를 뜻합니다. 뉴욕 출신인 Tom Sachs가 외국인의 시점으로 다도를 해석하고, 일상에서 사용되는 기성품을 소재로 하여 표현하는 전시입니다.
2012년부터 본격적으로 다도를 배우기 시작한 Tom Sachs는, 독자적인 시점과 해석으로 다도의 세계를 재구축한 작품을 제작해 왔습니다.

메인 전시 공간은 일본 정원을 이미지화한 공간 구성으로 되어 있습니다.
露地門(로지몬) 쪽의 외로지와 다실 쪽의 내로지로 나뉘어 있었습니다.

 

다도에 대한 애정을 느끼면서도 놀이 감각과 유머가 관람자를 빨아들입니다.
경쾌하고 무겁지 않으며 산뜻한 관람 체험이 기분 좋게 다가왔습니다.

동시에 개최되고 있는 Tomio Koyama Gallery의 모습은 이쪽입니다.
