Kohei Nawa’s long-awaited new catalogue “METAMORPHOSIS” has been released.
The release date was February 4, 2019. Timed to coincide with it, the “Throne -Louvre Pyramid-” exhibition also opened.

Although I described this as his first catalogue in a long while, the previous one was published back in June–August 2011 as the official catalogue for his solo exhibition “Kohei Nawa – SYNTHESIS” held at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo.
Standard Edition
Like the previous catalogue, which is now hard to obtain, this new one is a strictly limited edition of 1,500 copies, and it is virtually certain that it will become difficult to find down the road.
Nor is it distributed to bookstores across the country. It is sold as a Tsutaya Books exclusive. You will need to buy it either in-store at a Tsutaya branch or through online shopping.

The heart of the matter—the book itself—is large and pleasingly heavy, and the contents are packed.
Beginning with “Throne,” the massive work he presented at the Louvre in Paris in July 2018, it collects more than 150 pieces from Nawa’s exhibitions at home and abroad—irresistible material for any fan. Since it is a limited run, you’ll want to grab one early.
I bought mine through free-shipping mail order. It was carefully packaged, so I recommend this route over hauling the heavy volume home from a Tsutaya store.
Special Edition
Sold separately from the standard edition was the “Special Edition — COLLECTOR’S EDITION —.”
Ten types of “Velvet”—a sculpture series specially produced as multiples—were made, each in a limited run of 10 editions.

This special edition, incidentally, sold out in a flash.
Given that you can buy a Nawa work at this price, it’s easy to see why it drew such a scramble.
Having seen them in person, they are lovely pieces that you want to keep close at hand. Anyone who managed to get one is lucky indeed!

오랜만의 작품집이라고 언급했지만, 전작 작품집은 2011년 6~8월 Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo에서 열린 개인전 “Kohei Nawa – SYNTHESIS”의 공식 카탈로그로 출간된 이래의 일입니다.
일반판
본 작품집은, 현재 입수하기 어려운 전작 작품집과 마찬가지로, 앞으로 손에 넣기 어려워질 것이 확실시되는 “한정 1,500부”의 출판입니다.
또한 전국의 서점에서 유통되는 것도 아닙니다. Tsutaya Books 한정이라는 형태로 발매되고 있습니다. Tsutaya 매장이나 온라인 쇼핑을 통해서만 구입할 수 있습니다.

가장 중요한 내용물은 매우 크고 묵직한 장정이며, 내용도 볼륨이 대단합니다.
2018년 7월 파리의 Louvre Museum에서 발표한 대작 《Throne》을 비롯해, Kohei Nawa 씨의 국내외 발표 작품 150점 이상이 수록되어 있어 팬이라면 놓칠 수 없는 내용입니다. 한정 판매이므로 서둘러 입수해 두는 편이 좋습니다.

덧붙여, 이 특장판은 순식간에 완판되어 버렸습니다.
Nawa의 작품을 이 가격에 구입할 수 있으니 저렴한 편이라, 쟁탈전이 벌어진 것도 이해가 됩니다.
실제로 뵈었지만, 손 가까이에 두고 싶어지는 사랑스러운 작품이었습니다. 손에 넣으신 분은 행운이네요!
