SUNNY BOY BOOKS
About a 5-minute walk from Gakugei-daigaku Station. Just as you enter the residential district, the shop “SUNNY BOY BOOKS” appears. It is a small shop, but all the more distinctive for it — a used bookstore full of character.
Kosuke Ajiro “Огонёк (Aganyok)”
The exhibition held using part of the bookstore’s corners and walls is Kosuke Ajiro’s “Огонёк (Aganyok).” It is a curious title, but “Огонёк” is the title of a book of the same name, and this is a commemorative exhibition for that book’s publication.
A book the size of a miniature “mamehon,” yet a substantial 200 pages — “Огонёк.”
Being a publication commemorative exhibition, the original artworks contained in the book are lined up, filling every available space.
The original pieces are priced at 15,000 yen each. Framed, they are 30,000 yen, and a frame holding two is 40,000 yen. The unframed single piece at 15,000 yen feels like the best deal・・・.
“Огонёк (Aganyok)” apparently means “a little light.” It is a work centered on a fictional heroine named Natasha, and Kosuke Ajiro’s distinctive touch and depiction are beautifully unified throughout.
A story unfolding in a distant foreign land. Precisely because it is a fictional tale, viewers are free to feel it however they wish.
The miniature installation displayed in one corner of the shop is so exquisitely made that you find yourself gazing at it intently.
In “Огонёк (Aganyok),” Natasha is set up as working at a lottery shop, and buyers of the book receive a numbered lottery ticket. Winners are offered gifts such as original artworks. What a fun idea!
The book “Огонёк” (limited to 250 copies) and the lottery ticket that was actually handed out (top).
I lost all sense of time and place as I took it in.
The owner of SUNNY BOY BOOKS also has a mysterious air about him, and I was able to spend time in a wonderful space. What a lovely time!
SUNNY BOY BOOKS
从Gakugei-daigaku Station步行约5分钟。在即将进入住宅区之处出现的店铺,便是「SUNNY BOY BOOKS」。虽是一家小店,却也因此拥有独具个性的空间,是一家韵味十足的旧书店。
