We visited “KAMU kanazawa,” a museum that opened in June 2020.

KAMU kanazawa is a private museum, and Kentaro Hayashida, who is also an art collector, is involved in its operation as director. It is located about a three-minute walk from the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and was built in a place with easy access.

1st Floor: Leandro Erlich
The work installed on the first floor is by Leandro Erlich. It was commissioned specifically to fit the space of the museum floor.

Leandro Erlich is well known for his signature work “Swimming Pool” at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa.
The work on view has been designed with an awareness of its location right next to that museum.

2nd Floor: Stephanie Quayle
The second floor is the exhibition space for Stephanie Quayle, a British artist who creates animal sculptures.

3rd Floor: Takuro Kuwata
The third floor features ceramicist Takuro Kuwata, with a series of works whose vivid colors dazzle the eye.
The Leandro Erlich work on the first floor is on permanent view.
For the second and third floors, we were told that displays will change roughly once a year.
The exhibition space is not particularly large, so some visitors may feel the admission fee is a bit high.
It was also unfortunate to see Takuro Kuwata’s works placed directly on bare plywood boards.
The museum is still growing. We look forward to its future development.

1楼设置的是Leandro Erlich的作品。这是为契合美术馆空间而委托制作的作品。

1층에 설치된 것은 Leandro Erlich의 작품이다. 미술관 층에 맞도록 커미션 제작된 작품이다.

나선 계단의 통층을 위에서 내려다보는 듯한 감각으로 이끄는 설치 작품이다.

3층 Takuro Kuwata(구와타 다쿠로)
3층은 도예가 Takuro Kuwata. 눈부신 색채의 작품들이 이어졌다.

1층의 Leandro Erlich 작품은 상설 전시라고 한다.
2층과 3층은 약 1년 주기로 전시를 교체할 것이라는 얘기였다.
전시 공간이 그렇게 넓지 않은 만큼, 관람 요금이 다소 비싸게 느껴지는 분도 계실 것이다.
또한, Takuro Kuwata의 작품들이 그대로 드러난 합판 위에 놓여 있던 점은 아쉬움이 남았다.
아직은 성장 중인 미술관이다. 앞으로의 전개를 기대한다.
