I visited Kazuho Iwamoto’s solo exhibition, “With You Through the Seasons.” The venue was “Ginza Gallery Bi no Kigen.”
Kazuho Iwamoto lives in Shizuoka. She is a young woman with a very gentle manner. I visited on the final day and was fortunate enough to have the chance to speak with her in person.
Even though her motifs are cut from everyday scenery, every one of her works is evocative, expressing something that strikes right at our hearts.
Many of her works seemed to depict twilight, which is apparently a scene Iwamoto is especially fond of.
The work that stayed with me was one titled “Your Path.” It’s a twilight scene of a young girl breaking into a run down a country road. The motif, the composition, and the technique were all superb.
She was also taking on all sorts of other works, including pieces of fruit and flowers. There are still some rough edges, but she’s an artist to look forward to from here on.
I wish her greater and greater success!
