【Art Fair】メキシコのアートフェア「Material Art Fair」に行ってきた

メキシコの現代美術アートフェア「Material Art Fair」に行ってきました。

アートフェアMaterialは、メキシコ最大のアートフェア「ZONAMACO」と同じタイミングで開催するアートフェアで知られており、2024年の今回で10回目の開催となります。

Materiaの会場はExpo Reformaというイベント施設で、2フロアで展開されています。
天高がそれほど高くもない会場で、フロアもそれほど広くないので開放感はあまり感じられませんが、集まっているギャラリーの展示がそれぞれ個性的で楽しく回れました。

参加ギャラリーのブースも小規模な展開で、メキシコらしい作品の傾向が感じられました。
普段見ることが出来ない作品ばかりで、興味深く回れました。
なお、日本からの参加ギャラリーは、小山登美夫ギャラリーと4649の2ギャラリーでした。

Material Art Fair

I visited Mexico’s contemporary art fair “Material Art Fair.”

Material Art Fair is known for taking place at the same time as ZONAMACO, Mexico’s largest art fair, and 2024 marks its 10th edition.
I have introduced ZONAMACO in the article below, so please refer to it if you are interested.

Material’s venue is an event facility called Expo Reforma, spread across two floors.
The venue’s ceiling is not particularly high and the floors are not that spacious, so it does not have much of an open feel, but the participating galleries each presented distinctive exhibitions, which made touring the fair enjoyable.

The booths of participating galleries were also on a smaller scale, and I could sense a distinctly Mexican tendency in the works.
Every piece was something I don’t usually get to see, making it a fascinating tour.
The galleries from Japan were Tomio Koyama Gallery and 4649 — two galleries in total.
