I visited the solo exhibition by Urara Imai. The venue is the 4F Corridor of Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery. This exhibition is part of the venue’s “project N” series, an initiative aimed at fostering and supporting young artists.

Urara Imai is the daughter of the painter Shingo Imai.
As introduced in Shingo Imai’s book “The Homework Picture Diary,” she was born with hearing impairment and chose the path of a painter with the idea of acquiring a skilled profession.

Urara Imai is an artist who has painted many depictions of butter toast, and one was even chosen for the cover of Ichiko Uemoto’s essay collection.
Urara Imai’s works center on still life paintings that capture moments of everyday life.
When Yuichi Hirako’s solo exhibition overlapped with Tomoo Gokita’s show, works paying homage to Gokita were on display. This time the exhibition overlapped with Kazuo Shiraga’s show, but there were no related works. With works like a comical dog piece evoking Van Gogh, this became an exhibition that shone with Urara Imai’s characteristic unpretentious, at-her-own-pace charm.

我参观了Urara Imai的个展。展场为Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery 4楼走廊。本次展览是该场馆以培养和支持年轻艺术家为宗旨的”project N”系列企划。
Tomoo Gokita의 전시와 겹쳤을 때의 Yuichi Hirako 개인전에서는 Gokita에게 오마주하는 듯한 작품이 발표되었습니다. 본전은 Kazuo Shiraga의 전시와 겹쳤지만 관련되는 작품은 없었습니다. 반 고흐에 비유하는 듯한 코믹한 개 작품을 전시하는 등, 마이 페이스로 꾸밈 없는 Urara Imai다움이 빛나는 개인전이 되었다고 생각합니다.
