I visited “Hammershøi and Danish Painting,” held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.
“Hammershøi and Danish Painting,” Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum
For “Hammershøi and Danish Painting,” the museum-goods lineup was wonderful, so I’d like to write an article. This exhibition is handled by “East,” a museum-shop planning company with a track record at the Klimt Exhibition, Vienna Modern Exhibition, and more.

Catalogue ¥2,273
First, the catalogue you’ll want to have.
Recently some exhibitions change the cover or release a smaller size, but this time there was only one design. *Prices are excl. tax (same below).
It’s ¥2,500 per copy incl. tax.
Postcards ¥139
Speaking of standard museum goods, it’s postcards.
Many types were sold at this exhibition too. The count is “48 types,” apparently.

Large postcards ¥186
These are large-format postcards of a size you can mail for ¥120.
With their sizeable feel, these seem better for framing and displaying. The back is gold-finished!
B2 poster ¥1,500
What I want to recommend is the poster, which is apparently permitted for sale only at this exhibition.
It was printed in the highest-ever image quality.
The paper used is domestic top-class “Vent Nouveau V White (shiroku-ban 130kg).”I’d like to put it in a frame if possible.
You’ll want to think carefully about storing and framing posters. Please also refer to the articles below.
Tote bag ¥1,200
Recently I feel tote bags have become standard at every exhibition.
The calm-colored flavor is nice.
The fabric was thin.
Handkerchief towel ¥800
The handkerchief towel had stylish one-point embroidery. The fabric colors are gray-toned, in three colors. Embroidered, and an Imabari-towel product.
The Hammershøi Exhibition original memo pad (ipitsusen note paper) is designed so it can also be used as a greeting card. Six of the exhibited works are included, and it’s a product made with permission from five collection institutions. It’s a special double-A-side spec where folding the paper in the middle lets you use it like a greeting card.
Chocolate cake, 2-pack ¥650 / 4-pack ¥1,000
Original chocolate cakes developed by East’s gourmand staff through repeated taste tests. How does it taste…?
The packaging was stylish.
Original candle ¥1,000
A Japanese-made candle with 18 hours of burn time.
Made in Japan.Museum shop sales scene
Double clear file, A5: ¥463 / A4: ¥556
A double clear file with two pockets. Two sizes.
Left: A5 size, right: A4 size
Paper folder ¥500
An eco “paper folder” was also prepared, countering plastic clear files.
A cropped Hammershøi work is printed on domestic top-class paper. Gray paper is laminated to increase strength.
Magnet ¥556
A magnet coated with a special resin called potting.
A rich variety of designs was also prepared.
Canvas badge ¥500 / notebook ¥800
A canvas badge made of 100% linen fabric, and a special notebook made with codex binding. The notebook uses gray paper called “Tone F” for the inner pages.
Left: canvas badge, right: notebook ¥800 *both made in JapanThe notebook used gray paper.
Tote bag ¥5,200 / scarf ¥16,000
High-priced items appear too. The items were solid and good.

MOEBE frames
In a corner where many original goods were sold, there was a sales section for products connected to Denmark. Among them, what caught my attention was the Danish minimal frame “MOEBE.”
Displaying a Hammershøi Exhibition postcard in this frame would also be stylish.
Limited-time online shop opened
*Updated April 29, 2020
The Hammershøi Exhibition, which regrettably closed mid-run due to the impact of COVID-19.
In consideration of the special circumstances, a special online shop for museum goods was opened.
It’s a limited-time effort. Please refer to the article below.
Summary
Overall, my impression was that there were many stylish, minimal designs planned with care for the tone of the Hammershøi Exhibition. As a memento of the exhibition, I’d like to take my time choosing what I like.
