Held for the second time, “Reborn-Art Festival 2019 (RAF2019)” takes place across the Oshika Peninsula and the city of Ishinomaki in Miyagi Prefecture. It’s not just an art festival — it’s a celebration that also embraces music and food.
RAF2019 unfolds across seven areas.
One of them is the “Kozumi Area.”
Located roughly in the middle of the Oshika Peninsula, it’s an area surrounded by calm bay waters and mountains.
At this site is Fermento, a facility for butchering and processing deer taken through hunting into edible meat. Amid the worsening problem of animal damage, they advance deer culling while working to make full, respectful use of the deer as a local resource.
Kozumi Area
The Kozumi Area is curated by Hideki Toyoshima, under the theme “When We See Ourselves, Led by the Deer.”
Small houses built by artists cluster around the deer processing facility “Fermento,” forming what looks like a small village.

Yusuke Asai “Life Dwells Everywhere @ Sketches of Oshika”
Yusuke Asai, whose large-scale mural at the Yokohama Museum of Art recently drew widespread attention.
Asai, known for depicting flora and fauna in mud paintings, presents an exhibition centered on works inspired by Oshika, including a number of smaller pieces.

I was able to enjoy work that felt distinctly Asai’s.
The Kozumi Area also features works by other artists.
And if the timing is right, you may even get to see Fermento, the facility that processes hunted deer.

本次为第二届，以宫城县牡鹿半岛和石卷市街区为舞台的祭典”Reborn-Art Festival 2019（RAF2019）”。这不仅是单纯的艺术节，也是能享受音乐和美食的节庆。
이번이 두 번째 개최인, 미야기현 오시카(오시카) 반도와 이시노마키 시가지를 무대로 한 축제 “Reborn-Art Festival 2019(RAF2019)”. 단순한 아트 페스티벌에 그치지 않고 음악과 음식도 즐길 수 있는 축제입니다.
RAF2019는 7개 지역으로 나뉘어 전개됩니다.
그중 하나가 “고즈미(Kozumi) 지역”.
오시카 반도 중앙 부근에 자리한, 만 안쪽의 잔잔한 바다와 산으로 둘러싸인 일대입니다.
이 장소에서는 사냥으로 잡은 사슴을 해체하여 식용육으로 가공하는 시설 Fermento가 운영되고 있으며, 심각해지는 “짐승 피해 문제” 속에서 사슴 구제를 진행함과 동시에, 그 사슴을 지역 자원으로 소중히 활용하기 위한 활동을 하고 있습니다.
고즈미 지역
고즈미 지역의 큐레이터는 도요시마 히데키로, 테마는 “사슴에게 이끌려 우리를 바라볼 때”입니다.
사슴고기 처리장 “Fermento”를 둘러싸듯이 아티스트들의 작은 하우스가 세워져, 하나의 마을처럼 어우러져 있습니다.

아사이 유스케 《모든 장소에 생명이 깃든다 @ 오시카의 스케치》
최근 요코하마 미술관의 대형 벽화로 화제가 된 아사이 유스케.
진흙 그림으로 동식물을 그리는 아사이의 작품은, 오시카를 모티프로 한 작품을 중심으로 소품까지 포함한 전시 구성입니다.
아사이의 하우스. 밖에서도 보이도록 안쪽 유리창에도 그림이 그려져 있습니다.벽은 물론 천장까지 빽빽하게 그려져 있었습니다.유리창에 그린 작품〜안쪽에서 촬영진흙 그림에 어울리는 붉은색을 바탕으로 한, 아사이다운 작품입니다.진흙은 이 땅, 오시카 반도에서 채취한 것을 사용하고 있습니다.
진흙 그림다운 화면 질감의 표정이 좋습니다.창문에 그려진 작품실내에서 보니 태양이 바닥에 작품을 투영해 주고 있었습니다.소품들도 멋집니다.벽화 위에 붙여놓은 것처럼 전시되어 있었습니다.이 작품은 “TO ONODERA SAN”이라고 적혀 있어, 오노데라 노조무에게 보낸 아사이의 작품인 듯합니다. 아사이의 작품. 회장 어딘가에 놓여 있으니 찾아보세요.
