[A Grand Gathering of Vienna's Treasures] "Vienna Modern: Klimt, Schiele, and the Road to the End of the Century" @ The National Art Center, Tokyo

ウィーン・モダン　クリムト、シーレ世紀末への道

国立新美術館で開催されていた「ウィーン・モダン　クリムト、シーレ世紀末への道」展にお伺いしました。

本展では、時代を18世紀中頃にまでさかのぼり、のちのウィーン工房に影響を与えたビーダーマイアー時代の工芸や、芸術都市へと発展する起源となった都市改造計画など、ウィーン世紀末文化に至るまでの歴史背景にスポットライトを当てます。

絵画や工芸だけでなく、建築、デザイン、インテリア、ファッション、グラフィックデザインなど、当時の写真や資料、本展のために特別制作したウィーン市の都市変遷映像などを網羅的に展示している展覧会です。

グスタフ・クリムト

同時期に開催されていた東京都美術館でのクリムト展に対抗するかのように、グスタフ・クリムト作品は全部で47点の展示でした。質、量ともに満足出来ることでしょう。

特に、素描の作品は数も多く、クリムトの才能に触れることが出来ると思います。

エゴン・シーレ

エゴン・シーレの作品も油彩から素描、リトグラフと幅広く用意されていました。シーレの展示作品は全22点でした。

オスカー・ココシュカ

とても楽しみにしていたオスカー・ココシュカの作品は全17点。
著作権の関係上、画像は掲載できませんでしたが《「クンストシャウ・サマーシアターの演目、「殺人者、女たちの希望」のポスター》は、本展出品作品の中で最も印象に残る作品となりました。

なお、※大阪展はクリムト18点、シーレ11点、ココシュカ8点となります。

本展では絵画作品以外にも沢山の展示品、展示スタイルで楽しませてくれます。

Vienna Modern: Klimt, Schiele, and the Road to the End of the Century

I visited the “Vienna Modern: Klimt, Schiele, and the Road to the End of the Century” exhibition held at The National Art Center, Tokyo.

This exhibition goes back as far as the mid-18th century, spotlighting the historical background leading up to fin-de-siècle Viennese culture—including Biedermeier-era crafts that later influenced the Wiener Werkstätte, and the urban redevelopment plan that became the origin of Vienna’s development into an art city.

Beyond paintings and crafts, it comprehensively displays architecture, design, interiors, fashion, and graphic design, along with period photographs and documents and a video of Vienna’s urban transformation specially produced for the exhibition.

Gustav Klimt

As if in rivalry with the Klimt Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, held at the same time, a total of 47 Gustav Klimt works were on display—satisfying in both quality and quantity.

Especially, the drawings are numerous, and I think you can encounter Klimt’s talent.

Egon Schiele

Egon Schiele’s works were also prepared across a wide range—from oils to drawings and lithographs. Schiele’s exhibited works numbered 22 in all.

Oskar Kokoschka

The works of Oskar Kokoschka, which I’d looked forward to very much, numbered 17 in all.
Due to copyright, I couldn’t post images, but 《Poster for the Kunstschau Summer Theater program ‘Murderer, the Hope of Women’》 became the most memorable work among those exhibited.
