kanba keika’s first solo exhibition in four years since 2013. She has expressed the human figure through her unique style of painting, taking the delicacy of human existence as a theme. This time, under the concept of “Ω ohm” (ohm = electrical resistance), she focuses her attention on the existence of humans who appear weak at first glance.
What exactly is the existence of humans? She depicts this existence, which harbors strength within weakness, in figures painted gradually with extremely pale colors layered upon one another.

While humans consume energy through resistance, the women in the works are painted with a pale touch, and at first glance appear to be extremely fragile beings. Yet in each individual work, the poison that emerges seems to bare its fangs at the “apathy” that pervades contemporary society—this is what stands out as characteristic.

2013년부터 4년 만의 신바 기에이가 개인전. 인간의 존재 방식의 섬세함을 주제로 독특한 표현 방식으로 인체를 표현해왔습니다. 이번에는 「Ω ohm」(옴=전기 저항)이라는 컨셉을 내걸고, 언뜻 약해 보이는 인간의 존재에 주목하고 있습니다.
도대체 인간이라는 존재는 무엇인가? 약함 속에 강함을 숨기고 있는 그 존재를 극도로 옅은 색으로 조금씩 덧칠해진 인물상으로 그립니다.
