“hyper technik”, “solid shock”, “clever beauty” — a white wall credited with these terms is impressive at “Radium Roentgenwerke AG”. It’s a gallery accessible from Asakusabashi Station and Bakurocho Station. A simple and very stylish building.
At such a gallery, I visited a solo exhibition by Hitoshi Tsuboyama not too long ago.
Hitoshi Tsuboyama
Hitoshi Tsuboyama is a visual artist born in Sendai and currently residing in Fukuoka. In his works, he captures three-dimensional forms like contour lines marked on topographic maps. This is what is called “low resolution realism,” an expressive method that reduces resolution.

A technique that reduces resolution as if resisting the all-digital contemporary society.
While captivated by the color expression reflected in the depicted “iris,” I found myself contemplating the “expression through imagination” made possible precisely because of the low resolution.

While moving closer to look, stepping back reveals yet another different appearance of the work. The iris seems to flicker, and I found myself captivated for a moment.

There were also enlarged works of the iris on display. Works that are, in a sense, “cropped.”

While gazing intently, I became enchanted by this work, “The one Iris #2.”
The magma-like red and orange dominating the iris seem to express human passion and energy. On the other hand, the subtle blue glimpsed through appears cold and serene. A neutral white that lets you feel the air. It appears as though a woman who has fully projected all her emotions into her iris is looking directly at you.
Unfortunately, it’s a large-scale work measuring 100 号 size, and the price exceeds one million yen, which is beyond reach…

Summary
Through the very interesting approach of “low realism,” the expression of the iris (Iris) stimulated the viewer’s imagination and was enjoyable.
Does less information create more room for imagination to fill in the gaps? I found myself wanting to see many more works using this technique.
What kinds of works will be released in the future? The interest never ends…
「hyper technik」（초절기교）、「solid shock」（고체충격）、「clever beauty」（재기있는 미）로 크레딧된 흰 벽이 인상적인 「라디움 렌트겐베르케 Roentgenwerke AG」。아사쿠사바시역, 바쿠로마치역에서 접근 가능한 갤러리입니다. 심플하고 매우 세련된 건물입니다.
그러한 갤러리에 얼마 전이지만 「츠보야마 사토시」님의 개인전에 다녀왔습니다.
츠보야마 사토시
센다이에서 태어나 후쿠오카에 거주하는 미술 작가, 츠보야마 사토시님. 산악 지도에 기록된 「등고선」처럼 입체를 포착하는 묘사 방식을 작품으로 표현하고 있습니다. 이른바 「로우레소리얼리즘」이라는 해상도를 낮춘 표현 방식입니다.

디지털 전성시대의 현대 사회에 저항하는 듯한, 해상도를 낮춘 표현 기법.
그려진 「눈동자」에 비치는 색채 표현에 마음을 빼앗기면서, 저해상도이기에 가능해진 「상상력에 의한 표현」에 생각을 돌렸습니다.

가까이 다가가 보는 한편, 멀리서 보면 또 다른 작품으로 보이는 재미가 있습니다. 눈동자가 흔들리는 듯하여, 한동안 못 떨어졌습니다.
100호S(162cm각)의 대형 작품입니다.
눈동자를 더욱 확대한 작품도 전시되어 있었습니다. 이른바 「트리밍」한 듯한 작품입니다.

자세히 보는 중에, 이 작품 「The one Iris #2 」에 매력을 느껴버렸습니다.
눈동자를 지배하는 용암 같은 빨강과 주황색은 인간의 패션과 에너지를 표현하는 것 같습니다. 한편, 살짝 보이는 파란 부분은 차갑고 차분한 측면적인 부분. 뉴트럴하고 공기를 느끼는 화이트. 자신의 감정을 눈동자에 모두 투사하고, 이쪽을 응시해오는 여성처럼 보입니다.
아쉽게도 100호 사이즈의 대형 작품으로, 가격도 100만 엔 이상이라 손을 댈 수 없습니다···.
