The previous Biomatrix has been changed to white, and the (W) has been added to the work’s title.
Unlike the previous version, whose movements were controlled by computer programming, in this piece bubbles form and disappear at random without any control.
The area of each cell has also been considerably reduced, and the movement is calm and quiet.
The sound of bubbles bursting is also very small, giving the whole work a charming, delicate quality.
“I did not want it to become another illusion-like piece,” said Nawa.
The silicone oil, with a texture like sweetened condensed milk, drew us into quiet contemplation.
The size and placement of the work were designed to match the exhibition space.

PixCell-Deer#52
Another highlight is the well-known deer work from the PixCell series.

This work has been entrusted by a private collector, Mr. T, and is on display as part of the Towada Art Center’s permanent collection.

Drawings
Also on display are drawings that were shown at a solo exhibition held at Gallery Nomart in January 2022.
These are drawings made more than twenty years ago, using calligraphy vermilion ink and pencil.

White Code
White Code is a work created by slowly moving an unprimed linen canvas and letting paint drop onto it, tracing the resulting trajectories.

Although the show was small in scale with only a limited number of works, seeing Biomatrix (W) alone made this a solo exhibition worth visiting.
There seemed to be some room for improvement in the display methods, but including the permanent exhibition, the Towada Art Center is a museum that can be enjoyed at leisure.

本次展览的核心作品是Biomatrix (W)。
它是2018年于SCAI THE BATHHOUSE发表的Biomatrix的另一版本。
虽然作品数量不多、规模偏小，但仅Biomatrix (W)一件便已足以让人不虚此行。
展示方式或许还有改进空间，但连同常设展一起，Towada Art Center是一座值得慢慢品味的美术馆。

이전 버전의 Biomatrix가 흰색(White)으로 바뀌면서 작품 제목에 (W)가 붙었습니다.
컴퓨터 프로그래밍으로 제어되던 이전 작품의 움직임과 달리, 이번에는 제어 없이 기포가 무작위로 생겼다 사라집니다.
또한 셀의 면적도 크게 축소되어 움직임 역시 차분하고 조용해졌습니다.
기포가 터지는 소리도 매우 작아, 전체적으로 사랑스럽고 섬세하게 다듬어진 느낌입니다.
“이전 작품처럼 환영 같은 것을 만들고 싶지는 않았다”고 Nawa는 말합니다.
연유 같은 질감의 실리콘 오일에 조용히 빠져들게 됩니다.
전시 공간에 맞춘 크기와 전시 위치를 고려해 제작되었다고 합니다.

작품 수는 많지 않고 규모도 작은 전시였지만, Biomatrix (W)만 보아도 충분히 가치 있는 개인전이었습니다.
전시 방식에는 개선의 여지가 있어 보이지만, 상설전을 포함해 여유 있게 즐길 수 있는 미술관이라고 생각합니다.
