Takamatsu Art Museum Collection+ “Body and Moving”
“Takamatsu Art Museum Collection+ (Plus)” presents works from the museum’s collection alongside pieces by guest artists. The themes of this edition are “body” and “moving.”
Room 1
Room 1 focuses on “the body and movement in the act of creation.”
In collaboration with the “Kazuo Shiraga Dissemination Project,” which introduces the Shiraga collection held by Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture at museums across Japan, the exhibition explores works spanning the early to late career of Kazuo Shiraga, who won international acclaim for his highly original action-painting style of painting with his feet.

The exhibition also introduces the practice and inquiry of the young artists of the Gutai Art Association—of which Kazuo Shiraga was a member—guided by leader Jiro Yoshihara’s dictum “Create what has never been done before.” These are presented through the Takamatsu Art Museum’s Gutai collection, including Atsuko Tanaka’s Electric Dress.

Atsuko Tanaka’s iconic work Electric Dress is in the collection of Takamatsu Art Museum.
Note that Electric Dress is normally not illuminated; it was switched on once every 26 minutes.
Room 2 focuses on “the act of creation in tandem with travel and movement,” presenting paintings and video works.
Alongside the museum’s collection—including Takashi Ishida’s REFLECTION, in which light streaming through the window of a gallery in a British port town seems to converse with the artist’s own body, and DELAY by Logs Gallery (the artist duo formed in 1993 by Yasuhiko Hamachi and Yoshihisa Nakase), which spirally reconstructs footage and sound recorded during an actual drive—the exhibition also featured guest artists Aki Kondo and Koji Nakazono.
Aki Kondo’s paintings brim with “the act of living and its joy,” and her works reflecting on the lives she once knew on Shodoshima are deeply moving.

The works of Koji Nakazono, who died young in the sea off Takamatsu, born of rapidly welling images and the reactions of his body, speak to viewers with a striking freshness.

“다카마쓰 시립미술관 컬렉션+ (플러스)”는 미술관 컬렉션과 게스트 작가의 작품을 조합해 소개합니다. 이번 주제는 “신체”와 “무빙”입니다.
제1실
제1실에서는 “제작 행위에서의 신체와 움직임”에 주목합니다.
효고현 아마가사키시가 소장하는 시라가 컬렉션을 전국 미술관에서 소개하는 “Kazuo Shiraga 전파 프로젝트”와 공동으로, 발로 그리는 액션 페인팅이라는 독창적인 제작 스타일로 국제적 주목과 높은 평가를 받은 Kazuo Shiraga의 초기부터 만년에 이르는 작품 세계에 다가갑니다.

또한 Kazuo Shiraga도 참여했던 Gutai Art Association의 리더 Jiro Yoshihara의 “이제까지 없던 것을 만들라”라는 가르침 아래 이루어진 젊은 미술가들의 실천과 탐구를, Atsuko Tanaka의 《Electric Dress》를 비롯한 다카마쓰 시립미술관의 구타이 컬렉션을 통해 소개하고 있습니다.

Atsuko Tanaka의 대표작 《Electric Dress》는 다카마쓰 시립미술관 소장품입니다.
참고로 《Electric Dress》는 평상시에는 점등되지 않으며, 26분마다 한 번씩 전기가 흐르도록 되어 있었습니다.
제2실은 “여행이나 이동과 함께하는 제작 행위”에 주목하여 회화와 영상 작품을 소개합니다.
영국 항구 도시의 갤러리에서 창밖으로 시시각각 스며드는 빛과 자기 신체가 대화하듯 그려낸 Takashi Ishida의 《REFLECTION》, Logs Gallery(Yasuhiko Hamachi와 Yoshihisa Nakase가 1993년에 결성한 아티스트 유닛)가 실제 드라이브에서 기록한 영상과 음향을 나선형으로 재구성한 《DELAY》 등 소장 작품 외에, 게스트 작가로 Aki Kondo와 Koji Nakazono의 작품이 전시되었습니다.
