We visited the selection exhibition at Gallery Binosha in Nezu.

The exhibition combined works by artists associated with Gallery Binosha with pieces from the personal collection of gallery owner Mr. Oishi.

The single most interesting work was by Daisuke Takahashi.
We spoke with Mr. Yagi of HARMAS GALLERY, who shared a fascinating background to this piece: “He had hit a wall with the composition, so he sliced the paint off the panel entirely with a knife, flipped it over, put it back onto the panel, and started again from there. Back then, he was cutting up and collaging his own work — with a certain sense of guilt about it. (Yagi, Director of HARMAS GALLERY)”

The overwhelming force of Daisuke Takahashi’s work was memorable, and being able to see a work by Koji Nakazono was also a wonderful experience.
The presence of young artist Yukiko Kimura’s work was likewise striking. Her solo exhibition is scheduled to open on December 17.
The gallery owner has a sharp eye for collecting, and it made us want to see even more of the collection.

가장 흥미로웠던 작품은 Daisuke Takahashi의 작품이었습니다.

HARMAS GALLERY의 Yagi 씨에게 이야기를 들어보니, 이 작품에 얽힌 흥미로운 이야기를 들을 수 있었습니다. “화면이 한번 막혀서, 물감을 나이프로 과감하게 패널에서 잘라내고, 그것을 뒤집어 다시 패널에 붙인 뒤 재출발한 작품입니다. 그 시절에는 어떤 께름칙함을 안은 채로 자기 작품을 잘라내거나 콜라주하곤 했지요. (HARMAS GALLERY 디렉터・Yagi 씨)”

Daisuke Takahashi 작품이 지닌 압도적인 힘이 인상적이었고, Koji Nakazono의 작품을 감상할 수 있었던 것 역시 훌륭한 경험이었습니다.
또한 젊은 작가 Yukiko Kimura의 작품에서 뿜어져 나오는 존재감에도 압도되었습니다. Kimura의 개인전은 12월 17일부터 개최될 예정입니다.
