About Storing Posters
When you buy a poster, you usually receive it rolled up.
A poster case protects the poster from what can happen while you carry it home — rain and wind, contact with people or objects, and unpredictable shocks to the work. Collectors must protect their precious poster works, and in that sense a case is essential.
But, like me, don’t many people end up keeping the poster in the case itself? And no small number leave the poster just as it was when purchased, without even putting it in a case.And so the days go by, the poster still tucked away in its case…Keeping a poster stored inside its case carries the risk that a curl sets in and leads to deterioration, doesn’t it. The product I’d had my eye on to dispel that worry is the one introduced here — the «Poster File».
I’d been watching poster files for a while, but only three products were on the market, and you had to choose among them.
The three big items were Sakuradō, Disk Union, and Green Week.
Then, on September 20, 2019, a maker muscled into this oligopolistic poster-file market: “Kingjim,” the major stationery maker that ranks No. 1 in Japan for office files and holds an overwhelming share of thick files.

Kingjim’s «Poster File»
So, I promptly bought this Kingjim «Poster File» and tried storing some of my own posters in it.It comes with a thick paper cover.
I bought the chic, understated navy. It comes in two colors (navy and milky white).The first one I filed is a promotional poster for Sakanaction’s single “Tabun, Kaze.” (Probably, the Wind).
With artwork by Tsuguya Inoue, it dates from the single’s release in October 2016, so it had been left rolled up for over three years. Because I’d rolled it tightly, the curl was hard and tightly set. Now, to file it.There’s an opening at the top to insert the poster. As you can see, even when I let go it keeps a strong curl.
The pockets have a fairly sturdy thickness of 0.07 mm. I slid the poster in slowly.Each pocket contains a white sheet that helps the poster slide in more easily. Even a curled poster slides in smoothly.
I got almost the whole thing in. The curl is strong, and it doesn’t settle even inside the file.It settled into the file more easily than expected, which was a relief.
The curl doesn’t vanish right away, but I watched to see how much it would relax over time. In the end, it disappeared relatively quickly.I opened it a few days later. It had settled in quite nicely — a relief.
The join between the cover and the file pockets
I also filed a poster I recently bought, from the Kenjiro Okazaki exhibition “Kaisō of Vision.” If you file it right after purchase, before any curl sets in, it fits perfectly flat.Beyond how little effort the filing took, I found myself feeling a real sense of accomplishment as I looked at the file with all my posters tidily stored inside. Ah, I’m so glad I bought it!

자, 이 킹짐 「포스터 파일」을 곧바로 구입해 가지고 있던 포스터를 넣어 보았습니다.두툼한 종이 커버가 딸려 있습니다.
차분하고 세련된 네이비 색을 구입했습니다. 색상은 2색(네이비·유백)으로 나옵니다.첫 번째로 넣은 것은 사카낙션의 싱글 「타분, 카제.(아마도, 바람.)」 홍보용 포스터입니다.
아트워크를 맡은 이노우에 쓰구야가 작업한, 2016년 10월 싱글 발매 당시의 아이템이라 이미 3년 넘게 말린 채였습니다. 가늘게 말아 두었던 탓에 말림 자국이 단단하고 응축된 듯한 상태였습니다. 자, 수납입니다.윗부분에 넣는 입구가 열려 있습니다. 보시다시피 손을 떼어도 강한 말림 자국이 남아 있습니다.
포켓은 0.07mm의 비교적 탄탄한 두께가 있습니다. 천천히 밀어 넣습니다.포켓에는 잘 미끄러지도록 도와주는 흰 종이가 들어 있습니다. 말림 자국이 있는 포스터도 스르르 들어갑니다.
거의 전체를 넣을 수 있었습니다. 말림이 강해 파일에 넣어도 자국이 쉽게 가라앉지 않습니다.생각보다 수월하게 파일에 들어가 주어 안심했습니다.
말림은 금방 사라지지 않지만, 시간이 지나며 얼마나 펴질지 지켜보았습니다. 결과적으로 비교적 이른 시일에 사라졌습니다.며칠 후 열어 보았습니다. 꽤 자리를 잡은 모습이라 한시름 놓았습니다.
