【個展】植田爽介「(whereabouts of the) ANIMA」TAKU SOMETANI GALLERY

本展覧会では主に生物と製図用文房具や事務用品を組み合わせた半生物・半幾何学的なフォルムを扱った”imagine Series”を中心に展開。本シリーズの発端としては作家が多摩美術大学に通っていた学部時代、動物が印刷された写真に遊び心で三角定規や分度器の写真をコラージュし、その動物と製図用文房具が混じりあったかたちの輪郭をなぞることで有機的な存在と無機的な存在が交錯した中間のフォルムが生まれたのがきっかけである。

本展のタイトルとして掲げる(whereabouts of the) ANIMA〈魂の行方〉を何に見出すのか。作者は会期中practice(実践)とそこから見出すinduction(法則)によって、生命体の在り方を多義的な視点から模索していく。

This exhibition centers on the “imagine Series,” which mainly explores semi-organic, semi-geometric forms combining living creatures with drafting stationery and office supplies. The series originated during the artist’s undergraduate years at Tama Art University, when he playfully collaged photographs of set squares and protractors onto photographs of printed animals. Tracing the contours of the mixed shapes that emerged from the fusion of animal and drafting stationery gave rise to intermediate forms in which organic and inorganic existences intersect.

Where is (whereabouts of the) ANIMA — the whereabouts of the soul — to be found, as declared in the title of this exhibition? Through practice during the exhibition period and the induction of laws drawn from it, the artist explores the modes of being of living creatures from multivalent perspectives.

本次展览主要围绕”imagine Series”展开，该系列以将生物与制图文具、办公用品组合而成的半生物、半几何的形态为主。本系列的起源可追溯至作家在Tama Art University本科时期，他出于玩心将三角尺与量角器的照片拼贴到印有动物的照片上，通过描摹动物与制图文具混融后的轮廓，诞生了有机存在与无机存在交错的中间形态。

作为本展标题所揭示的(whereabouts of the) ANIMA〈魂之去向〉，究竟应在何处寻得？作家将在会期中，通过practice（实践）与由此得出的induction（法则），从多义的视角探索生命体的存在方式。

본 전시에서는 주로 생물과 제도용 문구, 사무용품을 조합한 반생물・반기하학적 형태를 다룬 “imagine Series”를 중심으로 전개됩니다. 본 시리즈의 발단은 작가가 Tama Art University에 재학하던 학부 시절, 동물이 인쇄된 사진에 장난기 어린 마음으로 삼각자와 각도기의 사진을 콜라주하고, 그 동물과 제도용 문구가 뒤섞인 형태의 윤곽을 따라 그림으로써 유기적 존재와 무기적 존재가 교차하는 중간의 형태가 탄생한 것이 계기였습니다.

본 전시의 타이틀로 내세운 (whereabouts of the) ANIMA〈혼의 행방〉을 어디에서 찾을 것인가. 작가는 회기 중 practice(실천)과 그로부터 발견하는 induction(법칙)을 통해, 생명체의 존재 양상을 다의적인 관점에서 모색해 나갑니다.
