Amanatsu Aono & Mayo Kyozuka “Anemone in the Mirror”
I visited the two-artist show “Anemone in the Mirror” by Amanatsu Aono and Mayo Kyozuka.
The venue is “Morgenrot (art space Morgenrot),” a gallery in Gaienmae.

Mayo Kyozuka
Mayo Kyozuka has been introduced on our site several times in the past, and as the exhibition title “Anemone in the Mirror” suggests, many works expressing women’s duality—like the anemone flower, dainty yet poisonous—were lined up (works sold by lottery).
Amanatsu Aono’s display was not extensive.
These are masks made from scratch by Amanatsu Aono, a Japanese-painting (Nihonga) artist. Pop, eerie, and cute masks.
Both artists are from Hokkaido.
We’d best watch out for the poison women possess…
