Mizuma Art Gallery, exhibiting at Art Fair Tokyo 2019, presented Ai Yamaguchi in a solo-exhibition format.
The solo exhibition title “Kiu” is said to be a breakdown of the character “柳” (willow), representing tree (木), rabbit (卯), and spring.

The major work 《On the Day We Meet Again》, created after she saw shards of Arita ware, is composed by joining ceramic shards into a single work—a new work reflecting the idea of “wanting to incorporate the passage of time that the shards hold.”

It contains fine patterns with motifs such as cellular tissue, and a complex composition can also be seen in the painting. Due to the venue space, the exhibition couldn’t join each of the fragments together, but the finished form seems to have become a work like the next photo.

There were many porcelain works, giving a slightly different impression from her previous works.
“In this work, for the lines drawn to render letters and pictures—the inside and outside divided by those lines, and the lines that emerge in the tension between inside and outside—I drew each on supports of various origins. I overlay onto this work a landscape where the willow’s long lines waveringly intersect within the mist. (Ai Yamaguchi)”

아트페어 도쿄 2019에 출품한 미즈마 아트 갤러리는 야마구치 아이를 개인전 형식으로 전개했습니다.
개인전 타이틀 「木う」는 나무(木), 묘(卯), 봄을 나타내는 「柳（버들）」를 분해한 것이라고 합니다.

아리타야키의 도편을 본 것을 계기로 만들어진 대작 《또 만나는 날에》는, 도편을 이어 하나의 작품으로 구성한 것으로, 「도편이 지닌 시간의 경과를 도입하고 싶다」는 생각이 반영된 신작입니다.

세포 조직 등을 모티프로 한 섬세한 문양이 포함되어 있어, 그림 그리기 면에서도 복잡한 구성을 볼 수 있습니다.
회장 공간 관계상, 전시에서는 각각의 조각을 이어 붙일 수 없었던 듯하지만, 완성형은 다음 사진과 같은 작품이 된 듯합니다.

자기 작품이 많아, 지금까지의 작품과는 조금 다른 인상을 받았습니다.
「이번 작품에서는, 문자나 그림을 그리기 위해 긋는 선에서, 그 선으로 나뉜 안과 밖, 안과 밖에서 서로 겨루며 떠오르는 선, 각각을 다양한 유래의 지지체로 그렸습니다. 안개 속에서 버들의 그 긴 선이 흔들흔들 교차하는 풍경을 이번 작품에 겹치고 있습니다. （야마구치 아이）」
어떤 지지체를 사용해도 야마구치 아이의 작품임을 알 수 있는 작품이네요.
