Spring’s Design Festa (commonly “Desafes”) vol.47—this time I visited on the first day (May 12, 2018).
The booth bustling above all was Chihiro Kawai’s. Despite the wide space of two units, it overflowed with people—young women surrounding it.
Chihiro Kawai
Her works are watercolors with a gentle touch, and the motifs capture casual everyday moments. Many approachable works were on display—ordinary family scenes that seem to exist anywhere, snapshots of the lives we lead, trivial everyday happenings.
The works were beautifully framed and sold.
Her way of combining colors gives a skillful impression.
At Desafes, besides originals, postcards and art collections were also on sale.
I spoke with her in person, and she was a charming, soft-mannered woman, as if she had stepped out of her works.
The booth seemed filled with a happy aura, an atmosphere where everyone there felt happy. Chihiro Kawai’s works have a power that puts you in a gentle mood.
