VOCA展は､｢VOCA展」実行委員会が全国の美術館学芸員、ジャーナリスト、研究者などに40才以下の若手作家の推薦を依頼し、その推薦に基づき、作家が平面作品の新作を出品するという方式で、全国各地から未知の優れた才能を紹介しています。

2019年の開催は33組のアーティストたちが選ばれ、3月14日より17日間の会期で「上野の森美術館」にて開催されます。VOCA賞に選出された東城信之介氏の作品の他、力作揃いの作品が一同に集まる美術展は注目が集まります。

2017年アテネを訪問した際、そこで見た壁に故郷（長野）を重ね合わせた。
その頃世界各地で壁の写真を撮り歩いていたが、どの国も壁に世相が像として残り強制的にそれと向き合わさせられた。
そして特定の物体に疑念を抱く自分と他者が触れたものに執着してしまう自分は、それらを媒介させ作品にする事で不安を払拭し自分事として着地させた。
これから訪れる世界的催事の反映がどういう形で現れるかはわからないが、きっと似たような壁を目にするのだろう。

The VOCA Exhibition 2019

For the VOCA exhibition, “The VOCA Exhibition” Executive Committee asks museum curators, journalists, and researchers from all over Japan to recommend young artists under 40, and the recommended artists then submit new two-dimensional works. Through this format, the exhibition introduces outstanding, previously unrecognized talent from every corner of the country.

For 2019, 33 artists (or artist groups) have been selected, and the exhibition runs for 17 days starting March 14 at The Ueno Royal Museum. Along with the work by Shinnosuke Tojo, who received the VOCA Prize, the show brings together an impressive lineup of ambitious pieces and is drawing considerable attention.

When I visited Athens in 2017, I overlaid the walls I saw there onto my hometown (Nagano).
Around that time I was traveling the world photographing walls, and in every country I found walls in which the times were imprinted as images, forcing me to confront them.
I doubt certain objects, yet I obsess over what others have touched. By making these tensions the medium of my work, I dispel that anxiety and bring it back down to earth as my own concern.
I cannot yet know how the coming global events will be reflected here, but I am sure I will see similar walls.

– Dai-ichi Life Concert “Classical Music for Children, Heard in an Art Museum”
On Thursday, March 21 (holiday), a gallery concert will be held at The Ueno Royal Museum by a quartet of graduates of the “Chamber Music ArtReach Seminar” hosted by the certified NPO Triton Arts Network.
(This program is by invitation only for Taito Ward residents and Dai-ichi Life customers, so applications from the general public are not accepted.)

VOCA展2019

VOCA展由”VOCA展”实行委员会委托全国各地的美术馆策展人、记者、研究者等，推荐40岁以下的年轻艺术家，再由受推荐的艺术家提交平面新作。通过这种方式，展览将全国各地尚不为人知的优秀才华介绍给公众。

2019年入选者共33组艺术家，展期从3月14日起为期17天，在The Ueno Royal Museum举办。除了荣获VOCA大奖的Shinnosuke Tojo之作外，此次展览汇集了众多力作，备受瞩目。

2017年访问雅典时，我把在那里看到的墙壁与故乡（长野）叠合在一起。
那段时间我在世界各地拍摄墙壁的照片，无论走到哪个国家，都能在墙上看到时代的印记，被迫与之直面。
我对某些特定物体心存怀疑，却又执著于他人触碰过的事物。将两者作为媒介融入作品，便得以驱散不安，将它作为自己的事情落脚下来。
即将到来的世界性盛事会以怎样的形式在作品中显现，我尚不得而知，但我想我一定会看到类似的墙。
